Client Portfolio

Professionalism & Creativity are great traits to have.
But the ability to listen to a client’s needs – and deliver – is essential.

Below is an assortment of client projects I’ve worked on – by myself or as part of a team of creative professionals. Each project contains details on my role in the finished product.

Hourigan Construction – Award Ceremony Video

With circle S studio, I was honored to work with a variety of clients on both a local and national scale. While circle S had clientele in a variety of industries, they primarily focused on the A/C/E (architecture, construction & engineering) and financial sectors.

Hourigan is a heavyweight construction company in RVA, and one of cSs’ premiere clients. Having just won a Richmond Times-Dispatch Top Workplace Award, they tapped cSs to edit a video in short order. Mixing fresh interviews with legacy footage, they wanted to show this promo at the RTD awards show — and eventually use it as a recruiting tool. I was given free reign to create something without a script, while knowing only what the end goal was to be. This is my creation. I shot the interview with CEO Mark Hourigan, as well as some employees in the corporate office and out in the field. Before presenting to the client, I received some editorial input from cSs management. Lower thirds & intro/section graphics by Brandon Shields. This video was well received and greatly appreciated by the Hourigan team.

Lansing Building Products – National Sales Meeting Video Campaign

Another of circle S’ premiere clients is Lansing Building Products. Each year, they host a National Sales Meeting, and circle S is in charge of their creative and design work for the event. I partnered up with another amazing videographer/filmmaker, Julian Ashbee, of GFactor Films, to create this ‘Hero Video’ (top, left) for LBP’s NSM 2020 (Julian filmed most of it, and I was B-cam on one of the warehouse shoots). I assembled the initial rough edit, and completed most sky replacements on the military footage. Julian sweetened the edit with the transitional flashes throughout, and inserted some creative shots he filmed in the field. Brandon Shields did some light graphics work, including the logo design and a pesky sky replacement. Overall, it was approximately a 50/40/10 split on the edit.

The theme of NSM 2020 was ‘Mission: Possible.’ Lansing leadership wanted the event to have a military theme, since the meeting was taking place at the Norfolk Hilton, a stone’s throw from the famed Naval shipyard. For months, circle S worked with the Lansing marketing and executive teams to finesse the video and meet their every expectation for it.

The main ‘hero’ video was intended to play twice during the three-day meeting, in which salespeople from around the country met to discuss their trade. Since the video was to be shown in a massive ballroom, we wanted to make it an immersive surround experience for everyone in attendance. So I edited additional, perfectly-synced ‘companion’ videos to play literally alongside the ‘hero’ videos shown on the main screens. In the weeks leading up to the event, I worked with the hotel A/V technicians to size the video properly and ensure a flawless execution to the event.

Additionally, I wrote, edited and created the sound mix on a number of other videos critical to the success of the main event. Two of those videos were the introductions of two VIP guest speakers: a Retired Navy Rear Admiral involved in the ‘Captain Phillips’ mission taking on the Somali pirates, as well as legendary NFL coach, Brian Billick.

All of the videos that played throughout the three-day event were military themed in nature, and I was responsible for co-writing, co-editing and creating the sound mix for them all.

All motion graphics, 3-D animated photos, and logo work was created by my colleague, Brandon Shields. cSs executive management provided editorial guidance throughout the project.

Please enjoy the full campaign.

Floricane – Brand Videos

Floricane is a Richmond-based business consulting and strategic planning firm. While at NBC12, I was asked to work with Floricane’s management team to come up with a series of brand videos for their website. My goal for the video campaign was to explain who they are and what they can offer, in a fun and informative way. Additionally, Mr. Sarvay wanted some quick videos with snappy sound bites to post on social media.

I filmed the vast majority of these myself, with some help from coworkers on a handful of ‘event’ shoots. I edited these in their entirety. My former colleague, Tina Rodriguez, created the lower thirds.
